"On the way into Kayenta I got a picture of Church Rock that should be a beauty. The clouds were black behind it and the sun was most bright on its tanish-white front.

Situated south of the entrance to Monument Valley on the Navajo Reservation, this approximately 300 foot high lava plug rises abruptly from a sparse valley floor. The name emanates from its uncanny resemblance to a church steeple.
