Size & Finish
The elderly lady in this frame represents one of the many Indians Dad photographed during his frequent trips to the Navajo Reservation. Dressed in the traditional velvet shirt and full skirt of her time and place, she was scouting for medicinal roots when the two met in the wilderness.

Dad later recalled that she proved a reluctant subject, but various expressions of the series of photographs he captured of her face and form proved highly popular on the exhibition circuit.
