"This man is a Navajo who lived up in the Paiute country, which is north of Navajo Mountain in Utah. I introduced myself to him and he invited me into his Hogan. Seated on the bare earth floor was this remarkable old Navajo with what must have been some of his grandchildren. I just call it 'The Chief.'

As my own grandchildren gather round me I often remember this kind and strong man who welcomed a small group of hikers into his home."
