Captured on the fated river trip wherein Dad became the seventy-third person to retrace John Wesley Powell’s second aquatic reconnaissance down the Green and Colorado Rivers, this slice of Southwest landscape is typical of the rugged terrain Dad was prone to frequent at every opportunity at his disposal.

Hell Roaring Canyon is a large tributary of Labyrinth Canyon on the Green River, located above the junction of the Green and Colorado Rivers.
