Two of Dad’s favorite times of day to take photographs was early morning and twilight. This view of Monument Valley captures the late afternoon soft pastel-like blending of the evening sky, muting the harshness of the towering spires, while they shield the young double bareback riding Navajo sisters on their way home.

Dad would have preferred the title "Totem Pole and Yei-be-chai" because he always made an effort to honor the place names used by the Indians. This photograph was taken for Venture Magazine in 1967
