"Regardless of which of our deserts one studies. the first and most impressive fact one encounters is that life on them is not easy. Typical of plant life is the Juniper Tree from which the Indians derived oil for flavoring lamb or mutton. The Hopi Indians boiled the green parts and consumed them to treat stomach disorders. A few drops of the oil may be used cosmetically mixed with spring water to produce a skin cleanser."
