Located in Coconino County, Arizona, this sandstone mesa dominates the landscape. Among its many scenic features is a natural arch spanning an erosion valley located on the southeast edge of the mesa.

Dad’s fascination with geology and archeology repeatedly enticed him back to this north central Arizona location. The nearby ruins of Keet Seel, Betatakin and Inscription House were strong drawing cards.

On the many flights to and from Rainbow Lodge, he would fly low over the terrain, spotting ruins and arches and then mark the location on his aviation maps. Later we would drive to the area and hike in to his discoveries.
