Camelback Mt. from a Tethered Balloon (1935)
negative: #1121
Size & Finish
This photograph, taken in the mid 1930s, is a result of Dad rising in a basket attached to a tethered balloon above Central Avenue. To the East runs Camelback Road, skirting just South of Camelback Mountain.

With the damming of the Salt River, abundant water was made available year round making the Valley of the Sun a virtual agricultural paradise. The rows of crops seen in this image are now rows of houses.
